History

Both Carolinas were originally part of the Carolina colony but was divided up into two when borders could not be defined in the charter. In any case, Carolina was one of the13 original colonies and the 1st state to join the Confederacy. There are over 4 million residents in South Carolina which rank them #24.

The borders are defined by the Atlantic Ocean, the Savannah River, North Carolina, and Georgia.
