The franchise started out as the Tri Cities Blackhawks in 1946. In 1951 they moved from the Mississippi River area to Milwaukee and became the Milwaukee Hawks. In 1955 they moved to St. Louis. Finally they moved to Atlanta in 1968.

The Atlanta Hawks are a professional basketball team based in Atlanta, Georgia. They play in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
