He began in the London pub rock scene in the mid 1970s. He then associated himself with the punk rock and new wave scene, before establishing himself as a unique and original voice in the 1980s. Costello’s first album for the band Stiff was My Aim Is True in 1977. He appeared on the cover in his trademark oversize glasses, bearing a striking resemblance to Buddy Holly.
