The kind of rock and roll the Black Crowes specialize in was out of style upon their first appearance. The Black Crowes replicated the Rolling Stones and the Faces technique perfectly. At their best, the Crowes echo classic rock without imitating their influences of Rod Stewart and Keith Richards. The Black Crowes were originally formed by the Robinson brother in Georgia in 1984. By the time of their 1990 debut, “Shake Your Money Maker,” the group had already got their members together. The band’s cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handle” made the group a multi-platinum success. “Hard to Handle” was in the Top 40 which got their album into the Top Ten list. The band’s second Top 40 hit was the acoustic ballad “She Talks to Angels” in the spring of 1991. Shake Your Money Maker eventually sold over three million copies worldwide.Their second album, “The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion,” released in 1992 included the singles “Remedy,” “Thorn In My Pride,” and “Sting Me.” Three Snakes and One Charm, the Crowes’ third album, was introduced in 1996 and By Your Side in 1999. This includes the rock hit “Kickin’ My Heart Around.” In 2000, the Black Crowes toured and recorded a live album with Led Zeppelin and guitarist Jimmy Page. Then in 2001, they released yet another album entitled Lions, which included the singles “Lickin’” and “Soul Singin.”
