The Acura Classic is a WTA Tour affiliated professional tennis tournament for women, held every summer at the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California. It is classified on the WTA Tour as a Tier I tournament.
The tournament is known for its strong player fields, location in the hills, and its atmosphere.
Past champions of the tournament include current world number one Lindsay Davenport in 2004 and 1998, and former world number ones Venus Williams, Martina Hingis, and Justine Henin-Hardenne. It was upgraded to Tier 1 status in 2004 and there have been to winners of this tournament at that level, Lindsay Davenport and Mary Pierce.
